Helpful Job Hunting Tips from the HR Director at BIS Benefits.
I remember well my job search before landing at BIS Benefits. It was a restless period of networking, writing notes, revising my resume and hoping for the opportunity to interview. In my search, however, I found a few resources very helpful in my job search. Perhaps these can be beneficial for you too:
- A book, What Color is Your Parachute, by Richard N. Bolles. I must have read this book at least twice and referred to it almost weekly. In my opinion it is the best book on job hunting that you will find out there.
- A book, Job Interviews for Dummies, Joyce Lain Kennedy, The practical insights provided in this book certainly helped me. From the numerous interviews I have conducted with candidates for positions at BIS, it has been clear that many could have greatly benefited from a quick read of this book.
- Many churches in the Atlanta area offer a networking and motivational opportunity called Crossroads Career Network. These monthly meetings often picked me up when the toll of job hunting wearing me down.
